AMERICAN WATER WORKS ASSOCIATION

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) publishes standards that cover requirements for pipe and piping components used in water treatment and distribution systems, including specialty items such as fire hydrants. It also publishes several AWWA manuals relative to design, installation, operation, management, and training.

The AWWA standards are used for design, fabrication, and installation of large-diameter piping for water systems not covered by ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME B31, Code for Pressure Piping, and other codes. Conformance to AWWA standards is required either by being referenced in the codes governing the construction of water systems piping or by the enforcement authorities having
jurisdiction over the water systems piping.

Refer to Table C1.2 of Chapter C1, Part C of this handbook for a comprehensive listing of AWWA publications and standards dealing with piping.

Tomorrow or maybe Monday Piping & Fabrication will continue again with American Welding Society (AWS)
